In Service to our Community

St. James, you did it again! You went over and above the call. Spending time in fellowship and service with each other is truly a blessing.

Last weekend, we had a terrific group of volunteers show up for the Property Clean-up and Fix-it Day. The Property Committee Leaders, Pete Clemens and Josh Hornaday, organized the clean-out of the various nooks and crannies where items have accumulated over the years and identified areas that needed some TLC. They packed a pickup truck + trailer full of used furniture and took it to the Veterans Closet in North Chicago. They would thank Linda Berner, Shelly Holstrom, Tom and Ernie Matkov, Ron Koepke, Doug, Kate, Jack and Peter Gerber, and Justin Hornaday. Special thanks go to Werner Stein for fixing electrical issues in the Common Room, John Tanner for fixing a faucet and the shed lock, cleaning & power washing the courtyard, and repairing the automatic courtyard watering system, and Dean Haverkampf for tweaking the internet and Wifi routers. Immense thanks go to the teenagers for doing the heavy lifting!

Not to be outdone, numerous people stayed after worship on Sunday to pack 21 supply kits for W2C and 500 summer school snack packs for NCCP. Special thanks to The Social Ministry Committee: Shelly Holmstrom, Alane Wanda, and Ron Koepke for the time and energy dedicated to working with our ministry partners. and to Dave Van Singel for delivering the snacks to NCCP.
