Whether you are new to the area or have lived here for years, I want to personally invite you to St. James Lutheran Church during the seasons of Lent and Easter.
Lent is a time to slow down, reflect, and make space for honesty and hope. Our Lenten theme this year is Love Outpoured—a reminder that God’s love is freely given, present in our real lives, and always reaching toward us.
As Lent leads us to Easter, we celebrate a story of renewal and new life—good news for people of all ages and backgrounds. If you’re looking for a place to worship, reflect, or simply belong for a season, we would love to welcome you.

Personal Study
Devotional Guide
In this season, we will explore God’s love poured out for all of us through a daily devotional called Love Outpoured by Augsburg Fortress. The devotional focuses on Paul’s letter to the Romans. Together, we’ll reflect on God’s grace, deepen our relationship with Jesus, strengthen our life together as a congregation, and live that love in our neighborhood.
Pick up your copy in the Gathering Area at church.

Holy Week

Sunday, March 29 at 10:00 am
Palm Sunday
Through the resurrection of Jesus, God shows us that death does not have the final word. God promises to be with us not only in this life but in the life to come. God promises a new heaven and a new earth where there’s no more crying, no more dying, only life, only love. God’s promise to love us eternally is not just about the future but compels us to live as if love extends beyond the bounds of death.

Maundy Thursday
Thursday, April 2 at 7:00 pm
God promises to meet us in, with, and under simple elements of daily life. At a table that Jesus sets, God forgives us and feeds us with love eternal. In water and promise, God brings us to new life and breathes in us gifts that help the world. Through these ordinary elements, God does some truly extraordinary things. We can delight in God’s goodness and all across creation, seeing God in a beautiful sunset, the laugh of a small child, or the warmth of a fire, trusting we can always return to bread, wine, and water, where God will always be waiting for us.

Good Friday
Friday, April 3 at 7:00 pm
Life and death stand side by side as we enter into Good Friday. In John’s passion account, Jesus reveals the power and glory of God, even as he is put on trial and sentenced to death. Standing with the disciples at the foot of the cross, we pray for the whole world in the ancient bidding prayer, as Christ’s death offers life to all. We gather in solemn devotion, but always with the promise that the tree around which we assemble is indeed a tree of life. We depart silently, and we anticipate the culmination of the Three Days in the Easter Vigil.

Easter Sunday
Sunday, April 5 at 10:00 am
“The last enemy to be destroyed is death,” Paul writes. Today Christ is risen, and we gather together with astonishment and joy. Christ is risen, and we have been set free from the bonds of death. Christ is risen, and we are forgiven. Christ is risen, and with the women at the tomb and Peter, we are amazed. Let us rejoice: Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!
